Brashear Claims First Career A-10 Player of the Week Honor

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond men's tennis junior Cole Brashear has been named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Brashear turned in a flawless week for the Spiders, going a perfect 2-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles to help Richmond extend its win streak to seven matches to close the regular season.
Competing at No. 6 singles, Brashear delivered the match-clinching point in Richmond's 4-2 win over Fordham, defeating Diego Cueto 6-2, 6-0. He followed with another dominant performance in the Spiders' sweep of Hampden-Sydney, earning a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Dillon McReynolds at No. 2 singles, while also contributing in Richmond's 7-0 win over Coppin State.
In doubles, Brashear partnered with Davis Wiley on court one, posting a perfect 3-0 record on the week. The duo opened with a 6-0 win over Coppin State's Ulugb Abdurakhmonov and Aidan Thomas-Cogar, added a 7-5 victory against Fordham's Dhananjay Athreya and Dhill Virdee-Oakley and closed the weekend with a 6-1 decision over Hampden-Sydney's Thomas Davis and Dillon McReynolds, helping Richmond secure the doubles point in all three matches.
The honor marks Brashear's first career Atlantic 10 Player of the Week selection and the sixth weekly award for the Spiders this season. It is also the final weekly honor of the regular season for Richmond.
The Spiders open the 2026 Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship on Thursday, taking on No. 4 George Mason at 9 a.m. in Orlando, Fla. at the USTA National Campus. Richmond enters the tournament as the No. 5 seed after finishing the regular season 14-8 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
