RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team will learn its postseason fate Monday afternoon as the NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championship field is unveiled during the selection show at 4 p.m. on NCAA.com.
The Spiders will gather in Spider Hall to watch the announcement, with doors opening at 3:30 p.m. ahead of the live stream. The program is coming off a strong spring campaign and will look to secure a spot in the 64-team national tournament, which begins May 1.
The NCAA Championship features a 64-team, single-elimination format, with 27 automatic qualifiers from conference champions and 37 at-large selections. First and second round matches will be played May 1-2 at 16 regional sites across the country, with four teams competing at each location.
Winners will advance to super regionals May 8 or 9, with the final eight teams traveling to Athens, Georgia for the championship site at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. Quarterfinal matches are scheduled for May 14, followed by the semifinals May 16 and the national championship match May 17.
Richmond enters the selection process following a historic run that included an Atlantic 10 Championship title, the program's first conference title since 2006.
Fans and supporters are invited to join the team in Spider Hall for the selection show watch party at 4 p.m., which will include light refreshments as Richmond awaits its postseason destination.
