CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Richmond wrapped up its 2025-26 season with an 11th-place finish at the NCAA Regionals in Chapel Hill, Wednesday, equaling the program's best result in any of its previous five NCAA Regionals appearances. The Spiders shot a team score of 298 (+18) in Wednesday's third round to finish the event at 62-over par (902), ahead of Howard (+67, 907) on the 12-team leaderboard. In addition to matching its 11th-place finish at last year's NCAA Regional in Charlottesville, Richmond's score in Chapel Hill is its second lowest ever at an NCAA Regional, trailing only the team's 48-over (912) at the 2018 Tallahassee Regional.
"I'm so proud of this group of young women," said Spiders coach Calle Barlow.
Wednesday marked the final collegiate round for seniors Hannah Lydic and Olivia Wilkie, who registered Richmond's two lowest scores in Round 3 with Wilkie carding a 3-over 73 and Lydic shooting a 4-over 74.
"I am so grateful to have coached Hannah and Olivia," continued Barlow. "No words can describe what they have meant to this program. They have had such a positive impact on everyone they have encountered at Richmond! They are both great golfers but even more amazing people!"
Lydic finished the event at 11-over par (221), tied for 37th in the field. It was the third time Lydic has been the low Spider at an NCAA Regional. She placed 51st at the Raleigh Regional in 2023 and tied for 30th at last year's NCAA Regional in Charlottesville, the first top-30 individual finish by a Spider at an NCAA Regional.
After the round, Lydic reflected on her four years at Richmond, which included three team conference championships, an individual Atlantic 10 title, and three All-Conference selections.
"I have grown so much over the last four years," said Lydic. "I learned about myself and continued to develop, keeping an empty cup along the way. I have been blessed with such a great team that pushes me to be the best golfer, student and person I can be. I am going to miss Richmond and every aspect of Spider Athletics. Six-year-old me had a dream of being a collegiate golfer. But I never imagined what an amazing experience playing for Richmond would be, alongside Liv and Coach Calle, for all four years."
Wilkie's 3-over 73 Wednesday moved her three spots up the individual leaderboard. She finished the event in 60th place at 23-over par (233). Wilkie leaves UR with the sixth-lowest scoring average in program history and is expected to earn her fourth WGCA All-American Scholar honor in the upcoming weeks.
"Richmond has shaped me into the person I am," said Wilkie following her round. "I've learned so very much from Calle, my teammates, my professors, my friends, and the incredible support staff at Richmond. It's been an incredible journey, and I seriously wouldn't trade this experience for the world. Richmond will always have a very special place in my heart, and I really can't wait to come back and visit already."
Junior Maya Beasley shot a 5-over 75 Wednesday to finish the event at 19-over par, tied for 55th place with a group of two other golfers, including Spiders freshman Addie Doroh.
Katie Magner's 6-over 76 in Round 3 moved her to 22-over par (232), good for 59th place.
"I'm so proud of this group of young women," said Spiders coach Calle Barlow.
