RICHMOND, Va. – The NCAA released updated four-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores for its member institutions and their associated teams Tuesday, with seven Richmond Athletics programs earning perfect scores of 1,000, equaling UR's most ever. Richmond's field hockey, men's cross-country, men's golf, soccer, women's basketball, women's golf, and women's swimming and diving programs all received the highest possible APR score of 1,000 for the four-year period that now includes all data through the 2024-25 academic year. Richmond's seven teams with perfect APR scores matches May 2019, when data through the 2017-18 school year was released, for the most Spiders teams with perfect APR scores since the program was introduced in 2003.
In addition to the seven Spiders programs earning perfect scores, one more than last year, 14 Richmond programs received APR scores above the Division I average in their sport. All 16 Spider teams (including indoor and outdoor track & field as one team), received scores of 975 or higher, well above the 930 required by the NCAA.

Each year, Division I sports teams across the country calculates their APR using a simple and consistent formula. Each term, scholarship student-athletes can earn one point for remaining eligible and one point for staying in school or graduating. For schools that do not offer scholarships, recruited student-athletes are tracked.
The NCAA's Academic Performance Program has established an essential framework for academic excellence. The program provides measurable goals to ensure schools are fulfilling their commitment to equipping student-athletes with the tools and resources necessary to achieve academic success.
