RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond swimming and diving head coach Matt Barany announced the hiring of Justin Moser as the program's head diving coach.
Moser joins the Spiders after spending the past three seasons as diving coach at Tulane, where he helped elevate the Green Wave diving program and consistently guided student-athletes to postseason success.
"We are excited to welcome Justin Moser to Richmond Swimming & Diving," said Barany. "His proven ability to develop athletes aligns directly with our mission to improve in all areas of our team."
This past season, Moser coached a diver to the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships for the third consecutive year. During the season, he coached a diver who earned American Athletic Conference Freshman Diver of the Week honors five times and was named the conference's Freshman Diver of the Year following the championship meet in February.
During the 2024-25 season, Moser helped three Tulane divers qualify for the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships. The Green Wave also produced three American Athletic Conference diving medalists and recorded 11 top-10 marks in program history. Moser was part of Tulane's 2025 AAC Coaching Staff of the Year.
In 2023-24, he coached a diver to NCAA Zone D Diving Championships qualification while helping the program add three more performances to Tulane's all-time top-10 lists. Overall, Moser coached at least one NCAA Zone D Diving Championships qualifier in each of his three seasons with the Green Wave.
"I am very excited to be joining the swimming and diving staff at the University of Richmond and look forward to working with a team that has a long history of success in and out of the pool," said Moser. "I'd like to thank Matt Barany and the athletics administration for giving me this opportunity, and I am eager to contribute to the continued success of the program."
Prior to Tulane, Moser spent three seasons as the men's and women's diving coach at Niagara, where he helped lead the Purple Eagles to the 2022 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Championship. During his tenure, he coached a diver who broke two school records.
Moser also served as diving coach at Buffalo State during the 2019-20 season, assisting with recruiting and program development. He was the head varsity diving coach for the North Tonawanda City School District from 2016-20, coaching both the boys' and girls' programs.
A native of western New York, Moser competed at Buffalo State from 2016-19, qualifying for the NCAA Championships twice during his career. He graduated in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in management and a minor in coaching.
