Eight Spiders Named to CSC Academic All-District At Large Team

RICHMOND, Va. - Eight Spider student-athletes were named to the 2026 CSC Academic All-District At Large Team, as selected by College Sports Communicators on June 16. This honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions and considers Academic All-District honorees for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
Representing Richmond was field hockey's Clara Larripa, women's golf's Katie Magner, men's golf's Jack LaPiana and Parker Mellinger, women's lacrosse's Rileigh Meyer, as well as men's lacrosse's Gavin Creo, Brayden Penafeather-Stevenson and Joe Sheridan.
Larripa, a business administration major, finished the 2025 season with 48 points on a career-high 20 goals and eight assists to lead the field hockey program to its first Atlantic 10 Conference regular season title since 2015. The NFHCA All-American Third Team and NFHCA All-Region honoree finished the season ranked in the top-10 in the country averaging a goal per game and 2.40 points per game while collecting her third straight Atlantic 10 All-First Team honors and second-straight A-10 All-Academic Team accolades.
Magner, a business administration major was named as an All-Atlantic 10 selection this season after she tied for fifth at A-10 Women's Golf Championship at 18-over par (234) and helped UR to its second straight A-10 team title. Magner registered her first career top-10 finish by placing fourth in the season-opening Tribe Invitational with a career-low 7-over 223. The sophomore also helped Richmond to a 31-stroke win at the event, the largest margin of victory in program history.
LaPiana, a business administration major, finished the season with a 72.45 season stroke average which ranks third on team and 10th-lowest in program history. The junior collected five top-20 finishes tied for second most on team and helped UR to its first Atlantic 10 title since 2017.
Moellinger, a biology major, felped UR to its first A-10 title since 2017, including back-to-back wins during the spring at the Loyola Intercollegiate and Donald Ross Collegiate Classic as the team shot 34-under par at Loyola Intercollegiate, the lowest tournament score in program history. Moellinger appeared in 10 events, averaging 74.29 strokes over 28 rounds. He registered first career top-10 finish with an 8th-place finish at the Shepherd's Rock Individual in September.
A part of the women's lacrosse midfield unit, Meyer tallied 20 points on 17 goals and three assists. She also collected 24 draw controls, 19 ground balls and caused two turnovers. Meyer also earned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors and earned A-10 All-Academic accolades.
Creo, a key starter on the attack for the men's lacrosse program, finished the 2026 season with 48 points on 37 goals and 11 assists and 19 ground balls as he helped UR to a second-straight Atlantic 10 Conference Championship. The business administration major collected A-10 First Team and All-Academic honors, as well as USA Lacrosse and USILA Lacrosse Third Team All-America honors and Inside Lacrosse All-America Honorable Mention accolades in his junior season.
Penafeather-Stevenson, a business administration major, made an impact as a season-long starter for the men's lacrosse program in 2026. The junior recorded five goals and an assist for six points, collected 51 ground balls and added 21 caused turnovers. The long-stick midfielder was named to the Atlantic 10 First Team and A-10 All-Academic Team as well as collected All-America Honorable Mention accolades from USA Lacrosse and USILA Lacrosse.
Sheridan, a biochemistry and molecular biology major, finished his senior team captain campaign with 41 points on 31 goals and 10 assists, 13 ground balls and five caused turnovers. The midfielder helped UR to a second-straight Atlantic 10 Championship and a NCAA tournament hosting bid while becoming the 11th student-athlete in UR men's lacrosse program history to record 100 career points. A Tewaaraton Watch list honoree, Sheridan collected A-10 Midfielder of the Year, A-10 First Team, A-10 All-Academic and A-10 All-Championship accolades. He also tallied USA Lacrosse, USILA Lacrosse and Inside Lacrosse Second Team All-America honors for his efforts on the field.
