Byrd, Glassmyer Named Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-Americans

Richmond, Va. – Team captains and anchors of one of the FCS's top defenses, defensive end Camden Byrd and linebacker Carter Glassmyer have been named Stats Perform FCS Second Team Preseason All-Americans, announced Monday.
Returning for his final season of eligibility in 2026, Byrd earns the first All-America recognition of his career after a Second Team All-Patriot League campaign in 2025. The defensive end started all 12 games and recorded 34 tackles, including 11.5 tackles for loss and a team-second 8.5 sacks, ranking fourth in the Patriot League and 24th nationally in sacks per game (0.71). He also ranked second in the Patriot League and 15th nationally with three forced fumbles while adding six quarterback hurries and a pass breakup.
Glassmyer, who was also a Stats Perform Second Team Preseason All-American entering the 2025 season, repeats the honor following a Second Team All-Patriot League campaign. The team captain started 10 games and finished second on the team with 82 tackles, including 40 solo stops, while adding five tackles for loss, three sacks, and a pass breakup. He recorded a season-high 12 tackles in Richmond's victory over Fordham on Nov. 1.
Byrd and Glassmyer are both leaders of the Spider defense that paced the Patriot League in 2025 and ranked fourth nationally in passing defense (155.3 yards allowed per game), finished second in the conference in both scoring defense (22.7 points per game) and total defense (290.3 yards per game), and ranked third in the league with 11 interceptions.
