Glassmyer Named 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team Nominee

Richmond, Va. – University of Richmond linebacker and two-year team captain Carter Glassmyer has been named a nominee for the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, recognizing college football student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional commitment to community service, academic achievement and leadership. Glassmyer is one of 175 nominees nationwide and one of just 20 student-athletes representing the Football Championship Subdivision.
Established in 1992, the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team honors college football players who use their platform to make a meaningful impact in their communities. A selection committee evaluates nominees based on the breadth and depth of their community service, leadership, academic success and the measurable impact they have on those they serve. The final 2026 Good Works Team, consisting of 22 student-athletes and one honorary head coach, will be announced in September.
Glassmyer has distinguished himself throughout his Richmond career as a leader in the classroom, on the field and within the community. A business administration major with a concentration in finance, he owns one of the highest GPAs on the Spider football team while serving as a two-year team captain and mentor to his teammates.
During the 2025 season, Glassmyer faced adversity after missing the first games of his collegiate career. Although sidelined for two games, he remained an influential presence on the sidelines, providing encouragement, leadership and guidance to his teammates. He also played a key role in the development of linebacker Blake Houser, who stepped into the starting lineup during Glassmyer's absence and is expected to start alongside him this season.
Away from football, Glassmyer consistently demonstrates the selflessness and compassion that define the Good Works Team. He is an active participant in Richmond football's annual bone marrow donor drive, helping raise awareness and encourage donor registration.
His character was perhaps best illustrated following a Richmond snowstorm, when he and wide receiver Trey Mancuso noticed 82-year-old Sandy Padgett struggling to break up thick ice covering her driveway with only a hammer and screwdriver. Without hesitation, the pair pulled over, encouraged Padgett to wait safely on her porch, and spent the next hour clearing the driveway.
On the field, Glassmyer continues to be one of the leaders of Richmond's defense. A 2025 Second Team All-Patriot League selection, he finished second on the team with 82 tackles while helping the Spiders lead the Patriot League in passing defense and rank among the conference leaders in scoring defense and total defense.
Glassmyer is the latest Spider to be recognized by the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, one of college football's most prestigious honors celebrating the impact student-athletes make beyond the game.
