Solorzano Named A-10 Women’s Cross Country Rookie Performer of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond freshman Ella Solorzano has been named the Atlantic 10 Women's Cross Country Rookie Performer of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Solorzano led the Spiders at Friday's Adidas XC Challenge in Cary, N.C., completing the 5K course in 17:56.0 to finish 32nd overall. Her performance helped Richmond place fourth in the 16-team field with 143 points. It was the second time she's led the Spiders in two races this season, following her fourth-place finish at the season-opening Spider Alumni Invitational.
Solorzano is the first Spider to earn a weekly A10 Cross Country honor this season.
Next up for Richmond is the Richmond Invitational at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Va., on Friday, Oct. 2.
