RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond freshman Christina Stamoulacatos has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Stamoulacatos totaled one goal, a game-winner at Radford, for two points and put three of her five shots on goal across a pair of unbeaten matches for the Spiders last week.
Thursday, she put her lone shot on goal in Richmond's 0-0 draw with Longwood, forcing a save less than two minutes into the second half.
Sunday at Radford, Stamoulacatos scored the first goal of her career to lift Richmond to a 2-1 victory. In the 59th minute, she collected a ball from Kingsley Hughes and fired a left-footed shot past the keeper from 30 yards out. The goal proved to be the game-winner as Richmond extended its unbeaten streak to a program-record nine games. Stamoulacatos finished with a team-high four shots, including two on goal.
The Rochester, N.Y., native has appeared in all six matches for the Spiders this season and owns one goal on 12 shots, including seven shots on goal.
The honor is the first weekly A10 award of Stamoulacatos' career. She becomes the second Spider to earn a conference weekly honor this season after Morgane Zinn was named A10 Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 24.
Stamoulacatos and the unbeaten Spiders (3-0-3) will return to action Thursday at VMI.
