Spiders Place Fifth At 2001 U.S. Collegiate Synchronized Swimming Championships

Newport News, Virginia - The University of Richmond, under head coach Carole Mitchell, finished fifth in the overall university standings at the 2001 U.S. Collegiate Synchronized Swimming Championships at the Midtown Aquatic Center in Newport News, Va. Ohio State was the overall champion, with Stanford placing second.
Freshman Mandy Haeuser (San Antonio, Tex.) finished fifth in the solo final with a score of 88.000.
In the team final, Richmond finished sixth with a score of 87.533.
Nearly 200 of the nation's top synchronized swimmers from 21 universities competed in the championships.
