Joanne Boyle And Spidey Claim Victory

Joanne Boyle earned her first win of the season this morning, and it had nothing to do with basketball.
Powered by years of working out and hours of calculated preparation, Richmond's second-year women's basketball coach teamed with Spidey, UR's 100-year-old mascot, to claim victory in a supermarket sweep that highlighted First Market Bank's celebration for reaching $1 billion in assets.
Boyle and Spidey raced through the Ukrop's at Short Pump Crossing, gathering items and attempting to bring their shopping-cart total as close to $347.79 as possible. The UR team came within approximately $33, better than teams from VCU and Virginia Union.
For their outstanding effort, Boyle and Spidey earned $2,000. Richmond athletics has chosen to donate that amount to the Massey Cancer Center.
