Won all six events she entered in two meets this week and earned Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week. Adams set two Salvage Natatorium pool records in the Spiders' 121.5-120.5 victory against N.C. State: 400 IM (4:23.25) and 200 back (2:06.21). Her time in the 400 IM meets the NCAA "B" qualification. Adams won the 400 IM twice, 200 breast twice, a 200 IM and a 200 back this week.
Season-To-Date Recap
Adams has won 22 first-place finishes - 18 individual, four relays -- in nine meets so far this season. She has already reached the NCAA "B" requirement in the 200 and 400 IM. Mary has earned Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week twice and national swimmer of the week (collegeswimming.com) once. She has posted the fastest Atlantic 10 time in the 200 IM, 400 IM and 200 breast.
From The Coach
"Mary had a tough weekend against Clemson last week, and it obviously bothered her," head coach Matt Kredich said. "She worked hard in practice last week, as usual, but Saturday we noticed a change. She went about her races this weekend with a level of determination that I have not seen from her this year, and not only posted some great times, but she came up with some really big wins in very competitive races. I think this weekend was a sign that she is turning the corner from being a really good swimmer to becoming an outstanding competitor."
