Updated July 15, 2004
The sights and sounds of bulldozers and dump trucks dominates the quickly-changing landscape of First Market Stadium as the FieldTurf project moves into its next stage. A new photo gallery shows a protective sheet of fiber and plastic on the dirt, with a crushed stone topping and a state-of-the-art drainage system beginning to take shape.

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The productive sound of the bulldozer has hung over First Market Stadium for more than a week as the first stage of the FieldTurf installation has begun. The state-of-the-art playing surface will offer several Richmond programs a luxurious place to compete and practice.
The summer-long project is a vital asset to the football program because the new field can be used in all weather and is under lights for night practice. The turf is expected to be ready when first-year head coach Dave Clawson begins his fall camp in August.
