UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - A total of 32 Richmond student-athletes were named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's honor roll for the fall 2004 semester. The list, released by the conference office Wednesday afternoon, includes every student-athlete in the A-10 who recorded a 3.50 grade-point-average or better during the fall 2004 semester.
"It is an honor to recognize these student-athletes who truly exemplify what the college experience is all about," Atlantic 10 Commissioner Linda Bruno said. "Their commitment to excellence on and off the playing field is inspiring and should serve as an example to all."
In the Fall of 2004, the Presidents Council of the Atlantic 10 Conference changed the parameters of the Commissioner's Honor Roll. Now, the Honor Roll will be announced at the end of each semester and will consist of student-athletes with grade point averages of 3.50 or better for the semester. Previously, one honor roll encompassing the entire year was announced and consisted of student-athletes with a cumulative 3.00 GPA or better.
"The Presidents Council felt by changing the parameters of Commissioner's Honor Roll it would be more consistent with what our institutions due on their own campuses regarding their Dean's Lists," Bruno said. "By citing grade point averages for just the most recently-completed semester, it allows student-athletes a greater chance of being honored. Now, one or two semesters will not influence whether or not you earn Commissioner's Honor Roll status."
