UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond senior quarterback Stacy Tutt picked up his second weekly honor, I-AA.org officials announced Monday afternoon. The Tappahannock, Va., native was named a I-AA.org Weekly All-Star after helping the Spiders to a come-from-behind win in overtime over No. 23 Hofstra, 43-37, Saturday at UR Stadium.
Tutt, who was named Atlantic 10 Co-Offensive Player of the Week Sunday, threw for a career-best 376 yards, going 32-of-50, both of which were career-highs, and four touchdowns. He also set a career best in rushing attempts (27) and scored one TD on the ground. His 32 completions and 50 attempts both ranked second all-time at Richmond in the respective categories. Tutt's 376 yards through the air rank fourth on the all-time single-game list at Richmond.
He was responsible for both of the Spiders' touchdown in the overtime periods, scoring one on a one-yard sneak. The other was the game-winner, a 15-yard pass to a heavily covered Arman Shields in the corner of the endzone. Tutt found a total of seven receivers on the day, including Shields and Matt Hale, who both hauled in more than 100 yards in receiving. Harry Wilson and David Freeman also caught one touchdown pass each, as Tutt tied a career-high with four total.
The Spiders, who are now 4-3 overall for the first time since 1999, and 4-1 in the A-10 for the first time since 2000, were 10-for-17 in third down conversions, due in large part to Tutt. He amassed 152 yards passing (10-of-13), 21 rushing yards and two touchdowns in third down situations against the Pride.
The Spiders (4-3, 4-1 A10) return to action this weekend when they travel to Harrisonburg, Va., to face the 11th-ranked James Madison Dukes (4-3, 2-2 A10) at Bridgeforth Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. (EST).
