No. 23 Football Routs VMI 38-3 On Homecoming

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Stacy Tutt accounted for 377 yards of total offense Saturday and Richmond's defense stifled VMI's defense as the Spiders rolled to a 38-3 win over the Keydets.
Richmond had its fifth straight win and raised its record to 6-3 for the first time since 1992.
The Spiders scored on four of their five possessions in the first half, including drives of 82 and 97 yards. Joseph Fore connected on a 22-yard field goal to cap an 82-yard drive on the game's first possession.
The Keydets (3-7) came back, tying the game on Barrett Way's 38-yard field goal with 3:24 remaining. The Keydets drove 44 yards on that possession and Richmond held them to 69 yards of total offense the remainder of the game.
The Spiders took a 10-3 lead when Tutt completed a 64-yard pass from Arman Shields. Tim Hightower had a 4-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and the Spiders moved to a 24-3 lead 10 seconds before halftime when Tutt connected for an 8-yard touchdown to Danny Desriveaux.
Hightower scored on an 8-yard run, and Tutt and Desriveaux connected on a 14-yard pass to complete the scoring.
Tutt finished 20-of-29 for 273 yards and three touchdowns. He carried the ball ten times for 104 yards. Hightower rushed for 103 yards on 20 carries. Shields caught six passes for 131 yards, his fifth 100-plus yard game this season.
Desriveaux had a career-high eight passes for 82 yards.
VMI quarterback Jonathan Wilson connected on nine of 19 passes for 44 yards.
