UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond junior linebacker Adam Goloboski was named a 2005 Second Team All-American by The Sports Xchange late Wednesday evening. Goloboski, a 2005 First Team All-Atlantic 10 linebacker, joins nine other A-10 student-athletes named to the publication's first and second team selections.
Goloboski, who was also a preseason First Team All-Conference selection, led the Spiders with 131 tackles this season which ranked ninth on the Spiders all-time single-season list. His three-year total of 298 stops places him 25 tackles outside of the Spiders' top-10 list for career tackles.
His average of 10.9 tackles per game ranked second-best in the A-10 behind Villanova's Brian Hulea, who was part of the Sports Xchange's First Team Defense. Goloboski's average also ranked 11th in the country.
The Hereford, Md., native recorded 10+ tackles in seven games this season, pushing his career total to 14. One of three Spider linebackers to be named an A-10 Defensive Player of the Week, Goloboski recorded 12 tackles in the win at No. 2 Hampton and 18 tackles in the loss to No. 3 Furman, the Spiders' first two NCAA playoff games since the 2000 season.
