UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Former University of Richmond football standouts Michael Rogers and Bryson Spinner signed free agent contracts in the National Football League last week.
Rogers, who signed with his hometown New England Patriots, started the final 33 games of his career, including all 11 in 2004, on the offensive line. A Lorton, Va. native, Spinner signed his second NFL contract, this time with the Washington Redskins. The quarterback worked out with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2004 after playing his only season as a Spider. During that 2003 campaign, Spinner posted the program's 10th-best performance in passing yardage (1,712) and passing touchdowns (10).
