Wildcats Top No. 15 Spiders, 31-21

VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) -Marvin Burroughs accounted for 239 total yards and three touchdowns as Villanova sprinted past Richmond 31-21 on Saturday night.
Burroughs threw for 115 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 124 yards and two scores to lead the Wildcats (4-5, 3-3 Atlantic 10), who scored 21 points in the second quarter en route to a 28-0 halftime lead.
Villanova forced Richmond to turn the ball over four times and held Richmond (5-4, 2-4) to just 12 yards rushing but the Wildcats were shredded for 425 yards passing by two Spider quarterbacks.
Burroughs opened the scoring with a 1-yard run in the first quarter and added a 37-yard run in the second. Matt Dicken, who added 120 yards on the ground for the Wildcats, scored on a 3-yard run and the Spiders fumbled the ensuing kickoff, setting up Burroughs' 21-yard touchdown pass to Matthew Sherry with 5:28 left in the first half.
Levi Brown, who threw for 332 yards, tossed a pair of touchdown passes to Arman Shields in the third quarter to cut Villanova's lead to 28-14 and the Spiders pulled within a touchdown on a scoring run by Josh Vaughan with 11:09 left. But Villanova's Joe Marcoux responded with a 34-yard field goal that capped the scoring.
Shields caught eight passes for 124 yards to lead Richmond.
