Sherman Logan and Johnny Campbell each garnered postseason accolades following the 2005 season. Logan was a First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection after earning the A-10 Defensive Rookie of the Year honor. Campbell was a Third Team All-Atlantic 10 selection on the defensive line. The Spiders will be looking for the same production from both of them as they anchor Richmond's defensive front in 2006. Campbell, a local product from Douglas Freeman High School, was elected as one of the team's four captains prior to the 2006 Spring Game, and will be looked to for added leadership this season. Logan has already been picked as part of several Preseason All-America teams and been mentioned for several other national honors. Recently, the two took time out of the 2006 Preseason Camp to answer a few questions for RichmondSpiders.com.

What is your best memory from the 2005 season?
"I think the win against William & Mary. That was a great win for us, locking up the A-10 Championship and helping our chances of getting into the playoffs."
What are your goals for this season?
"As far as the team goes we want to come out and win another A-10 Championship, moving on to compete for the National Championship. I hope individually I can come out on top at the defensive end position -- lead the team and conference in sacks again."
Describe what it is like to play for coach Jeff Hanson (defensive line coach).
"Coach Hanson is a great coach and I really like playing for him. He is tough on us most of the time. He is a good guy, and stresses perfect technique in everything we do."
What is your favorite food?
"My favorite food is ham. Just straight-up ham."
How do you get motivated for a game?
"Before the game I usually sit in my locker and listen to music and focus on what we have to do. I don't really have a particular type of music -- a little of everything."
Prior to last season, did you expect to garner the amount of success and all of the accolades you received?
"I didn't expect all of the honors. I just wanted to come out and play hard and play up to my potential. I exceeded all of that which was great, but hopefully this year I can come back and better all of those things which I accomplished last season."
How did your neck and head injury prior to the 2004 season shape your mindset on football?
"It was hard at first. After I got hurt I realized football could be taken away from me at any minute. I came back ready to play and didn't want to give up on anything because I knew how fast it could be taken away. That also helped me shape my academic views as well. We are only in school and have the opportunity we have for so long. I wanted to get on the ball and enjoy every bit of my time here at Richmond."
What motivated you to come back from the injury?
"At home my mom kept my spirits up -- always telling me everything was going to be okay. She kept reassuring me I was going to have another chance to play football and get back in school. She was and still is a big motivator for me."

What is your best memory from the 2005 season?
"The JMU game was a great memory. After that game I think we all believed we could be a really good team -- just going into JMU and beating them at their place on their homecoming was a great feeling."
What are your goals for this season?
"As a team we want to keep winning. We want to win the A-10 Championship again and make it to the playoffs. We ultimately want the chance to play for the National Championship."
Describe what it is like to play for coach Jeff Hanson (defensive line coach).
"Playing for Coach Hanson in my career has been great so far. I came here thinking I was going to play for Coach Hanson, and when he became the defensive line coach it was a dream come true. He is very big on perfect technique and character, and I really enjoy playing for him."
What is your favorite food?
"Anything my mom makes at home. I'm not very picky. I can eat just about anything."
How do you get motivated for a game?
"My preparation usually starts the night before a game. I might listen to a little music, but I can get fired up pretty easily before a game."
What is it like playing so close to home?
"It is really easy playing close to home. My family is right down the street. They all come to watch practices a lot and are always at the games. I get to go home whenever I want and can eat a home-cooked meal."
What is your role as one of the four captains on this team?
"I like to think I lead by example. We have a great senior class with great leadership so it is pretty easy being a captain. I like to lead by example and play hard for everybody."
