Spiders Say Thanks To Season Ticket Holders

Aug. 21, 2006
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
The Spider football program took time before its final two-a-day practice session Monday night to say thanks to some of its most loyal supporters - the season ticket holders.
Coach Dave Clawson, his staff and 2006 senior captains welcomed a large crowd of season ticket holders at a special event outside First Market Stadium. Coach Clawson gave a detailed preview of the 2006 season, as the Spiders prepare to defend their Atlantic 10 championship.
The crowd enjoyed complimentary snacks and beverages, participated in a question and answer session with Coach Clawson, and picked up their newly-designed 2006 season tickets. Posters, schedule cards and Spider Club information, including the new on-campus stadium brick campaign, were available. Fans were also invited to watch the Spiders' practice at First Market Stadium following the event.
It was announced that the new Clawson's Kids program, in which season-ticket holders have been asked to purchase additional youth season-tickets to be donated to a charitable organization benefitting underprivileged children, has already surpassed 250 tickets in less than two weeks.
Spider Club Director Elise Myers addressed the crowd with an on-campus stadium fund-raising update, and introduced the "Help Pave The Way" campaign, in which fans can purchase an engraved brick at the new facility.
The Spiders open the season Saturday Sept. 2 at Duke (6pm). Following an open week, the home opener is set for Saturday Sept. 16 against VMI at UR Stadium. Kickoff for the Family Weekend contest is 3pm.
