Ward Named Starting Quarterback

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond Football head coach Dave Clawson announced Wednesday that redshirt freshman Eric Ward will be the Spiders' starting quarterback when No. 15 Richmond opens its season, Sept. 2, against Duke at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, N.C.
"We have decided Eric Ward will be our starting quarterback," Clawson said. "It was a tightly fought competition. Both Eric and Levi Brown played extremely well in preseason camp, but at this point we have made the decision Eric will be the starter."

The Spiders' home opener is slated for Sept. 16 when they host VMI on Family Weekend.
