Forte Named Atlantic 10 Rookie Of The Week

Sept. 17, 2006
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Redshirt-freshman Justin Forte was honored as a weekly All-Conference performer, Atlantic 10 officials announced Sunday. Forte, a Marietta, Ga., native was named Rookie of the Week after his second-half performance in the Spiders' 58-7 win over VMI Saturday.
Forte, who was appearing in his first game for the Spiders after redshirting the 2005 season, rushed for a team-best 144 yards, all in the second half. Forte, who also scored the first touchdown of his career on a 3-yard scamper in the third quarter, carried the ball 24 times in the second half, and recorded the most rushing yards by a Spider since Stacy Tutt wracked up 144 against Towson in 2005. He, along with junior Tim Hightower, was part of a twosome which rushed for more than 100 yards each in the game -- the first time since Tutt and Hightower went for 100+ against VMI last season.
The Spiders continue their three-game homestand this weekend when they host Bucknell (2-1), Saturday, Sept. 23 at UR Stadium. Kickoff against the Bison is slated for 1 p.m. Tickets to see any Richmond home game, are available online at RichmondSpiders.com, calling 1-877-SPIDER-1 or visiting the Robins Center ticket office.
