UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
Richmond's football team moved up one spot in The Sports Network Top 25 this week, advancing to seventh in the nation.
The Spiders improved to 2-0 with a 58-7 victory over VMI at home Saturday. The point total is the fourth-highest in school history, and the 560 yards of total offense is also the fourth-highest total in the Richmond record book.
The Atlantic 10 placed six teams in the Top 25, the most of any conference. New Hampshire is the number one team for the second consecutive week. Massachusetts (ninth), James Madison (17th), Delaware (18th), and Towson (21st) are also ranked this week.
The A-10 has now had six teams ranked at once during the regular season for the third consecutive year. Since the start of the 2004 season, all 12 teams in the Atlantic 10 Football Conference have been ranked in The Sports Network poll.
The Spiders are preparing for the second of three straight home games, entertaining Bucknell (2-1) Saturday at UR Stadium. Game time is 1 p.m.
