Tutt Earns Spot On Jets' Practice Squad

Sept. 3, 2006
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
Former Spider quarterback Stacy Tutt has made enough of an impression as a fullback to earn a spot on the New York Jets' practice squad.
Tutt, signed as a rookie free agent in May, survived preseason camp until Saturday's final cut, when he was one of 23 players dropped from the Jets' active roster. But good news followed Sunday with the announcement he would remain with the team as one of eight additional players on the practice squad.
The 6-1, 235-pound Tutt saw action in all four of the Jets exhibition games, primarily on special teams. He caught one pass for six yards in Friday's game against Philadelphia.
The Spiders are also represented in the NFL by Philadelphia linebacker Shawn Barber, a nine-year veteran, who will be on the Eagles opening day roster.
