Quick Slants:
No. 20 Richmond is five games into its 125th season of football and its fourth season under head coach Dave Clawson.
Richmond is back in the friendly confines of UR Stadium for the first of back-to-back home games, hosting Stony Brook. After four of their first five on the road, the Spiders are home for four of their final six games.
Both Richmond and Stony Brook are coming off last-second defeats last weekend -- the Spiders were downed by a Towson touchdown with no time on the clock, while the Seawolves saw Albany kick a game-winning field goal with nine seconds left.
Senior Tim Hightower is the nation's second-leading rusher this season, averaging 180.4 yards/game. Last week, the tailback became the first Spider in 15 years to surpass 100 yards on the ground in four straight games.
Senior FS Andrew Harris is among the team leader in tackles, but has blocked field goal attempts in back-to-back games, including the block pictured to the right against UNH. The native of Dallas and son of former Cowboys' star Cliff Harris has now blocked three field goals in his career.
The Spiders played the Towson game without all four of their Preseason All-CAA players. Sherman Logan, Tim Silver, David Horton and Arman Shields were all injured, with Silver and Logan done for the year.
Today marks the first all-time meeting between Richmond and Stony Brook on the gridiron.
Up Next:
The Spiders remain home next Saturday to host Rhode Island at UR Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET.
