The win puts Richmond into the NCAA Semifinal for the first time in school history. The Spiders had made three previous trips to the quarterfinals (1984, 2000, 2005) but were unsuccessful in each game.
Richmond plays Appalachian State next weekend in Boone, N.C. with a spot in the National Championship game on the line. Richmond and ASU have met just once previously in the NCAA Playoffs - a 20-3 ASU win in the 1987 first round.
Richmond improved to 5-5 all-time in the NCAA Playoffs (3-1 under head coach Dave Clawson).
With 11 wins, the Spiders set school record for wins in a season. In addition, the 26 wins by Richmond since 2005 are the most in any three-year span in the 125-year team history.
The Spiders have now won eight-consecutive games, matching the team's longest winning streak since 2005.
Under Clawson, Richmond is now 26-2 when leading at the half (11-0 this season), 18-7 as a ranked team overall and 7-3 as a ranked team on the road.
Richmond is the only team in the nation to go undefeated (6-0) versus ranked opponents in 2007 - five of those wins are over teams ranked 11th or better, including No. 11 Wofford.
Richmond held Wofford - the nation's second-leading rushing team - to just 195 yards on the ground. It was nearly 125 yards off the Terriers' average of 319.3.
Richmond limited the high-powered Wofford offense - that was averaging 36.2 points and nearly five touchdowns per game coming in - to just 10 points and one TD.
Although held to just 88 yards on the ground, senior All-American candidate Tim Hightower scored two rushing touchdowns, marking the 12th time in 13 games this season that he has scored a TD.
With a touchdown early in the fourth quarter that gave Richmond the lead for good, Hightower has accounted for the game-deciding points five of the team's 11 wins.
It was Hightower's first multiple TD game since scoring twice in the Stony Brook win (Oct. 13).
Sophomore K Andrew Howard converted all three of Richmond's PAT attempts, extending his school-record streak of consecutive extra points made to 87.
With those three points, Howard moved into second place all-time at Richmond in points scored by kickers (162). The school record of 188 is held by Rob Courter.
