Spiders Announce 2007 Football Signees

Feb. 7, 2007
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - After capturing its first back-to-back winning seasons in eight years, Richmond head coach Dave Clawson, and his staff officially announced the signing of 16 student-athletes who plan to play football next season for the University of Richmond.
"We signed another very strong class this year and we are excited about the continued success we are having in the state of Virginia," Clawson said. "Signing five good student-athletes from the state of Virginia, combined with our ability to recruit nationally, allowed us to sign a very outstanding class which will help our program."
The Spiders inked five from the Commonwealth of Virginia after signing four from Virginia in 2006. The 2007 class includes Virginia natives -- wide receiver Donte' Boston (Varina), offensive lineman Ryan Goss (George Marshall), defensive lineman Corey Jackson (Halifax), defensive back Colin Pehanick (St. Anne's-Belfield) and defensive lineman Chris Shields (Ocean Lakes). In addition, Clawson and his staff landed three each from Florida and Pennsylvania, two from Texas, and one more from Georgia, Maryland and North Carolina.
