New articles and audio added April 23
With the 2008 NFL Draft set to begin Saturday, April 26 in New York City, stay tuned to RichmondSpiders.com for updates on two Spiders with draft possibilities. Coming off a standout performance at the NFL Combine, WR Arman Shields has put himself among the leading wide outs, while RB Tim Hightower is regarded as the best small-school back in the nation.
Both Shields and Hightower could be the first Spider drafted since WR Muneer Moore was taken in the fifth round by Denver in 2000. Should both have their name announced next weekend, it will mark the 12th time in school history that multiple Spiders have been selected in the same draft year.
The Red & Blue of Richmond will bleed out of all parts of Radio City Music Hall next weekend. Not to mention Shields and Hightower as possible selections, former Richmond QB Todd McShay is one of the leading draft analysts for ESPN, while the Spiders' first-year head coach Mike London coached the possible overall No. 1 selection -- Chris Long at Virginia.
The 73rd NFL Draft on begins Saturday, April 26 at 3 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN. Saturday concludes with the final selection of Round 2 and resumes again Sunday, April 27 at 10 a.m.
