Logan, Crone, Sidbury, Healy Named 2008 Richmond Football Captains

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond head football coach Mike London has announced that senior DE Sherman Logan, senior FB John Crone, senior DL Lawrence Sidbury, Jr. and senior QB Will Healy will serve as the 2008 team captains. The four were voted on by the team and named during the Spiders' annual spring game.
These four will lead the Spiders during the 2008 season as Richmond prepares to defend its 2007 CAA Football Championship and make a return trip to the NCAA Playoffs.
Logan, who was granted a sixth season of eligibility after missing much of last season with an injury, returns as one of the top threats in CAA Football at defensive end. The Virginia Beach, Va. native was Preseason All-CAA Football pick last season and has amassed 118 tackles and 14.5 sacks in his career.
Regarded as one of the leading fullbacks in CAA Football, Crone was an All-Conference Second Team selection in 2007. A native of Arlington, Va., Crone blocked for one of the nation's leading rushers (Tim Hightower) last season and finished with 12 catches for 88 yards.
A First Team All-CAA Football selection thispast season, Sidbury finished with 48 tackles and was second on the team with 5.0 sacks and third in tackles for loss (8.5). The Cheltenham, Md. native forced a fumble in the Spiders' NCAA First Round win over Eastern Kentucky and recovered a fumble versus Towson.
Healy, who has backed up starting QB Eric Ward over the last two years, saw action in six games last season. He threw his first career TD pass against Stony Brook, hitting TE Joe Stewart for a 31-yard strike. A native of Chattanooga, Tenn., Healy has played in 23 career games, seeing action at quarterback and also on special teams units.
