Spider Football Players Join National Walk At Lunch Day

May 1, 2008
RICHMOND, Va. -- Members of the Richmond football team took some time during exam week Wednesday to take part in Blue Cross and Blue Shield's National Walk at Lunch Day. Will Healy, Chris Kondorossy, William Bischoff, Kevin Grayson and Brooks York joined Wellpoint/Anthem employees from the Broad and Staples Mill location in an effort to encourage Americans to live healthier lives and reduce unnecessary medical costs due to physical inactivity.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies across the country hosted lunchtime walks Wednesday, designed to help employees, customers and community leaders to take steps toward better health.
"It was great to have the Spider football players out here walking with us," said one of Anthem's employees who participated in the walk. "The weather was nice and it was a good time to get out at lunch and interact with the players."
The reigning CAA Champion Spider football team, which finished the season ranked fourth in the national polls and reached the NCAA National Semifinals for the first time in school history, is involved in a number of community events throughout the year, including a 12-year run providing assistance at the Virginia Special Olympics Summer Games.
