2007 Football Guide Ranked Among Nation's Best Publications

June 28, 2008
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond's 2007 Football Guide earned national recognition from the College Sports Information Directors of America as it was ranked as the nation's fourth-best media guide in the annual CoSIDA Publications Contest.
Each year CoSIDA conducts contests to award outstanding media guides and gameday programs in each sport and each division. The publications are judged in nearly 60 different categories such as layout and design, usefulness to media, writing style and consistency.
Richmond was the only CAA Football school to earn a national award. Murray State was ranked as the nation's best FCS media guide, with Appalachian State (second), Liberty (third) and Richmond (fourth) rounding out the national winners. Each institution will be honored at the CoSIDA National Convention this weekend in Tampa, Fla.
The guide, which serves as tool for the media covering the Spiders and as a recruiting piece, was a production of the Spiders' Athletic Public Relations office. It was edited and designed by assistant director of athletic public relations Mike DeGeorge, with the inside and outside covers designed by Anne Thompson. The guide was printed by Colonial Printing of Richmond.
The award comes on the heels of the most successful football season in school history in which the Spiders won a team record 11 games, captured the CAA Football Championship and reached the NCAA National Semifinals for the first time in program history. Richmond's final Top 25 rank of No. 4 was its highest ever.
