Richmond Announces All-UR Stadium Team

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond department of athletics has unveiled the All-UR Stadium Team, which recognizes the greatest Spiders to have played at the historic venue. After 81 years, 2009 marks the final season of Richmond Football at UR Stadium.
The All-UR Stadium Team is comprised of the following positions: running back (2), wide receiver (2), quarterback (1), tight end (1), fullback (1), punter (1), kicker (1), linebacker (3), defensive back (4), defensive line (4), offensive line (5), return specialist (2) and head coach (1).
The 28-member team, which includes 22 Richmond Athletics Hall of Fame inductees, will be introduced at halftime of the Spiders' final regular-season home game on Nov. 21 vs. William & Mary.
Spider fans helped determine the All-UR Stadium Team by casting their votes on-line at www.RichmondSpiders.com. In all, nearly 60,000 votes were received.
The team includes: Head Coach Frank Jones; Quarterback Buster O'Brien; Running Backs Barry Redden and Tim Hightower; Fullback Barty Smith; Wide Receivers Leland Melvin and Walker Gillette; Tight End John Hilton; Offensive Linemen Wayne Fowler, Eddie Martin, Red Christman, Ray Tate and Chuck Boone; Defensive Linemen Ace Owens, Marc Megna, Dick Humbert and Lawrence Sidbury; Linebackers Shawn Barber, Eric Johnson and Pat Kelly; Defensive Backs Jeff Nixon, Brian Jordan, Ray Easterling and David Ames; Kicker Rob Courter; Punter Mike Bragg; Return Specialists Winston October and Jesse Williams.
