Todd Herman Joins Men's Soccer Staff

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - First-year head coach Clint Peay announced the hiring of Todd Herman as an assistant coach for the Spiders.
Herman brings over 20 years of playing and coaching experience at the collegiate, club, ODP and professional levels.
"I am honored to join coach Peay, to be a part of the University of Richmond and its men's soccer program," Herman said. "I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and look forward to helping Clint develop well-rounded student athletes and a competitive successful program."
The Hampton, Va. spent six seasons at Davidson, serving as an assistant coach for the women's team in 1999 and an assistant coach for the men's team from 2000-05. He helped guide the Wildcat men's team to six winning seasons in his six seasons with the program.
During his tenure, Davidson won the 2003 Southern Conference Championship, made the program's third NCAA Tournament appearance and played in the Southern Conference finals three times. He coached four players who played professionally in the MLS and USL.
"I'm pleased to have Todd Herman as my assistant coach," Peay said. "Todd brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program that is second to none. He is a student of the game, hard working, and is full of new ideas to solve problems. Todd is very eager to get things started. He will be a tremendous asset to our program."
Herman has also served as the Director of Coaching with the North Meck Youth Soccer Association and was the head coach for the South Charlotte Soccer Association/USSF National Academy team in 2007-08.
In the fall of 2007, Herman was the head coach at Providence High School in Charlotte, earning the 4A Regional Coach of the Year. In 2008, Herman was an assistant coach at Atlantic 10 rival Charlotte, helping the 49ers to a 12-6-1 record.
A four-year starting goalkeeper at Pfeiffer University, Herman was a two-year team captain and three-time team MVP. The two-time first-team all-conference selection set the Pfeiffer school record for season and career and went on to play professionally in the USISL.
Herman began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Pfeiffer in 1992 and served as an assistant coach on the inaugural women's soccer team at Pfeiffer in 1993.
He holds a US Soccer "A" license and the NSCAA Premier Diploma.
The Hampton, Virginia native graduated from Pfeiffer with a degree in Sports Management.
