Oldham And Stephenson Sign With Men's Soccer

April 7, 2009
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - First-year men's soccer head coach Clint Peay announced the signing of incoming freshmen Houston Oldham and Jonathan Stephenson to National Letters of Intent.
"We are very excited about our incoming class for this fall," Peay said. "It's a class with size, athleticism, and pace. It is a versatile group that will help us address areas where we are a little thin. They will be young, but talented. We expect significant contributions from these guys."
Oldham is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound center midfielder from Nashville, Tenn., who was a five-year varsity starter and letterwinner at Montgomery Bell Academy for coaches John Lanier and Giles Cheevers. He was named All Mid-State as a sophomore and junior, along with earning team MVP, all-region and Tennessee All-State honors as a junior. He is currently playing his senior season this spring, looking to lead Montgomery to its fifth-straight state quarterfinal appearance.
The honor roll student plays for KFC Crush Liverpool of the Knoxville Football Club, helping the team to three Tennessee Division I State Championships.
"Houston is a big, athletic and technically very good player," Peay said. "He is a very versatile player that can play several different positions for us."

Stephenson is a 5-foot-11, 165-pound center back from Columbia, Md. who was a three-year varsity starter at Mount Saint Joseph High for coach Michael St. Martin. He was an All-State selection, Baltimore Sun All-Metro selection and All-Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association in his senior year of 2008.
The National Honor society and honor roll student helped his club team, the Baltimore Bays, to the 2008 Maryland State Cup title and a third-place finish at the 2008 Regionals.
"Jonathan plays his club soccer for the Baltimore Bays, the No. 1 ranked club in the US," Peay said. "We expect that he will be an impact in the defense right way. He is athletic, fast and a good 1v1 defender."
