Men's Soccer Announces 2010 Schedule

April 7, 2010
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond will play three 2009 NCAA Tournament teams, including two at home as part of their 20-game 2010 schedule.
The Spiders will host NCAA Tournament participants Charlotte and Saint Louis and will travel to NCAA Tourney participant Princeton this fall.
"We have a very challenging schedule that will test our team," second-year head coach Clint Peay said. "In our non-conference match-ups, we will face several top teams from their respective conferences. Teams such as Campbell (Big South), Elon (Southern), UNCG (Southern), George Mason (CAA), and Princeton and Penn from the Ivy League all have the quality to be top 25 teams, along with the potential to go far in the post season."
The Spiders nine-game Atlantic 10 schedule opens with five-straight home games against George Washington, Saint Louis, Charlotte, La Salle and Fordham, followed by four-straight away games against Duquesne, St. Bonaventure, Saint Joseph's and Temple.
"In conference play it will be no less difficult to get results," Peay said. "The A-10 is a very unpredictable and competitive conference every year. This year some of the highlights of our conference play will be hosting Charlotte, St. Louis, and Fordham. All of these teams finished in the top four last season. We believe we can secure enough points to qualify for the postseason tournament.
"The expectations are high for our team next season," Peay said. "Our returners have worked very hard to become a better team this spring. Combine this with a very capable freshman class, and we will believe we can see postseason play in 2010."
