First-year head coach Martin Parker and senior CB Justin Rogers represented the Spiders at Media Day - held at the Baltimore Ravens' M&T Bank Stadium.
Parker and Rogers, joined senior LB Eric McBride, senior WR Kevin Grayson, junior WR Drew Lachenmayer and sophomore FB Kendall Gaskins on the Preseason All-Conference Team. Richmond's seven picks tied reigning National Champion and preseason No. 1 Villanova for the league lead.
The preseason team and preseason poll were each voted on by CAA Football's 10 head coaches.
Also released at Media Day was the league's television package with its TV partners Comcast Network and Comcast SportsNet. CAA Football enjoys the most comprehensive TV lineup in the FCS and the Spiders are set for five games on the Comcast family of networks in 2010, with a sixth game (at Virginia) nationally broadcast on ESPN3.com.
With the subtraction of Northeastern and Hofstra from CAA Football, the league plays with a 10-team, one-division format in 2010. Old Dominion is set to begin league play in 2011, followed by Georgia State in 2012.
Richmond, which has the third-most wins in the FCS over the last five years and won the 2008 National Championship, begins its quest for a fourth-consecutive playoff berth Sept. 4 at Virginia.
