2010 Training Camp: Day 6 News And Notes

Aug. 10, 2010
Often times to take a step forward you must first take a step back. And the Spiders bounced back from a sub-par practice Monday with a crisp and up-tempo two-and-a-half hour practice at Robins Stadium early Tuesday morning.
Richmond went early to avoid the heat, and will take the remainder of the day to prepare for Training Camp's first two-a-day on Wednesday.
"The most exciting thing today was that after we struggled some yesterday, we bounced back this morning," said head coach Latrell Scott. "The mark of a good team that continues winning is that you overcome some adversity."
The defense won Monday's 11-on-11 drills, but the offense emerged Tuesday as the offensive line got a big surge to allow sophomore FB Tyler Kirchoff broke loose from three tackles and added another touchdown in the winning effort.
In Monday's blog, we discussed the on-going battle at the safety spot. Both seniors Max Prokell were up to the task Tuesday as each picked up interceptions.
Tomorrow's evening practice is a sort of a milestone at Robins Stadium, as it's the first-ever event under the lights at the new stadium. Wednesday's morning practice is at 8:15, with the night session to follow at 7 p.m. Comcast SportsNet is on campus tomorrow evening, shooting the second part of two features on both the Spiders' 2010 season and Robins Stadium.
Stay tuned to Training Camp Central delivered by nTelos tomorrow night for another video entry following the evening practice.
