Big Second Half Leads First-Team Offense To 18-3 Scrimmage Win

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND - The Richmond football team scrimmaged for the final time this preseason, kicking off Saturday night at Robins Stadium exactly one week before the 2010 season-opener next Saturday at Virginia at 6 p.m.
Saturday's scrimmage was played with four 10-minute quarters and the first-team offense struck for 18 second-half points, defeating the second-team offense 18-3.
Junior QB Aaron Corp continues to get comfortable after this week officially being named the starter for the opener.
Corp capped an 80-yard scoring drive in the third quarter with a two-yard TD pass to sophomore TE Kevin Finney. Junior WR Tre Gray and had a clutch 24-yard catch on the drive.
On their ensuing drive in the fourth quarter, the first-team offense took a 15-3 lead when senior RB Tyler Kirchoff finished off the drive with a one-yard TD plunge. Corp then connected with Gray on a two-point conversion. A Corp pass to Finney of 23 yards was the key play of the drive.
Sophomore K Wil Kamin made good on two field goal attempts, putting the second-team offense on the board first with a 36-yard field goal on the final play of the first half. His 30-yarder capped the scoring in the fourth quarter.
The scrimmage's lone turnover came on the first play of the day as Corp had a pass tipped at the line by senior DL Casey Cooley and intercepted by junior S Colin Pehanick.
