Team Notes
Richmond won its first "home" game since the 1928 season, which was the last year the Spiders played football on campus. For the last 81 years, Richmond has called UR Stadium -- located downtown -- home.
Richmond improved to 18-5 in games versus Top 25 teams since the start of the 2007 season (9-4 versus Top 10 teams).
With Saturday's win over Elon, the Spiders have not lost a non-conference game versus an FCS opponent since the 2005 season.
The victory was the Spiders' sixth-consecutive overtime win since the 1996 season, and all-time the Spiders are 9-1 in games decided in overtime.
Richmond improved to 15-13 following the bye week since the 1981 season.
Richmond's last two head coaches have recorded their first career wins versus Elon - Mike London (2008) and Latrell Scott (2010).
Richmond owned a 10-minute advantage in time of possession (35:02 to 24:58) and the Spiders have not lost the TOP battle since 2008.
Richmond improved to 4-0 all-time versus Elon, and has defeated the Phoenix in each of the last three seasons. Each of the last three games have been played in different venues -- the Spiders opened the 2008 season with a 28-10 win at Elon's Rhodes Stadium and last year, the Spiders knocked the Phoenix out of the NCAA Playoffs with a first-round, 16-13 victory in the second-to-last game ever played at UR Stadium
Player Notes
Senior WR Kevin Grayson caught his 13th career TD pass, moving him to T-8th on the Spiders' all-time list. It also marked his first TD catch since the fourth game of last season.
Sophomore FB Kendall Gaskins posted his second rushing TD of the season and the eighth of his young career.
Gaskins nine carries tied his career high.
With eight tackles, senior LB Eric McBride now has 347 in his career and moved to eighth on the Spiders' all-time list.
The 10 tackles by sophomore LB Darris McMillan were a career high. Also posting career-highs in tackles were sophomore DB Darrly Hamilton (eight), senior S Max Prokell (seven), redshirt freshman DL Brandon Scott (five) and junior DL Corey Jackson (five).
Jackson also recorded his first career interception - picking off a pass tipped by Eric McBride.
Scott also collected his first career sack.
Redshirt freshman TE Sam Roller, redshirt freshman WR Jon Thompson and true freshman WR Ben Edwards all caught their first career passes in Saturday's game.
