Postgame Notes: No. 10 Richmond Falls At Madison
Team Notes
- Richmond scored the game's first points - a one-yard TD run by Kendall Gaskins - and have scored first in every game this season. Since 2005, the Spiders have scored first in 52 of the 82 games and are now 42-10 when doing so.
- Richmond has dropped back-to-back games for the first time since the 2006 season. The Spiders are now 10-1 following an in-season loss in that span.
- The Spiders slipped to 43-14 when playing as a ranked team (Sports Network poll) since the start of the 2007 season (31-11 when ranked 10th or higher).
- James Madison trimmed Richmond's lead in the all-time series to 16-13.
- The win by James Madison snapped a three-game winning streak by Richmond at Bridgeforth Stadium. The Dukes had not beaten the Spiders in Harrisonburg since 2003.
Player Notes
- Junior FB Kendall Gaskins has now scored at least one touchdown in every game for Richmond this season and his seven TDs sets a new single-season high.
- Gaskins has scored 18 rushing TDs in his career (19 overall) and moves into a tie for ninth on the Spiders' all-time rushing TDs list.
- The blocked punt by redshirt freshman DeShawn Holmes was the first of his career and the second for Richmond this season (vs. VMI on Sept. 17).
- The forced fumble by freshman LB Aaron Roane and the ensuing recovery by freshman DL Justin Williamson were the first of each of their careers.
- Roane also recorded the first sack of his career.
- Junior LB Darius McMillan has led the team in tackles in each of the last four games, including his career-best 15 tackle performance versus JMU. His previous career-high of 14 came last season versus JMU.
- McMillan has recorded double-digit tackles in every game this season.
- Junior LB Cooper Taylor matched his career with 14 tackles, while the following players set career-highs in tackles: Collin Pehanick (13, and 1.5 TFL), Derek Mayo (13 and 1.5 TFL), B.J. Scott (8) and Justin Williamson (4).
