Day 6 Recap: 2011 Training Camp

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND -- The Spiders wrapped up their first double session of the 2011 Football Training Camp, opening the day early this morning on the grass and finishing Wednesday night under the lights at Robins Stadium.
"I liked the effort this morning," said head coach Latrell Scott. "But I thought we lost a little bit tonight. We just weren't as sharp as we had been to this point in camp. But as I told the guys after practice tonight, we'll turn the page and get after it again tomorrow."
Junior DB Darryl Hamilton enjoyed a big Day 6, as he continues his transition from a starting safety last season to cornerback in 2011. Hamilton returned an interception for a touchdown this morning, then picked off another pass Wednesday night during the two-minute drill segment.
Senior DB Tremayne Graham also had an interception in the morning workout, while sophomore DL Kerry Wynn picked up a sack in the evening's team period.
Offensively, the two-minute drill Wednesday night was highlighted by a big 25-yard burst from freshman RB Justin Grant and junior QB John Laub kept the chains moving with a 20-yard scramble of his own. Senior QB Aaron Corp found senior RB Garrett Turner for a 10-yard pick up on a swing pass.
Richmond's Training Camp continues Thursday at 3 p.m. with a practice on the grass. The Spiders hold their first scrimmage Saturday at 3 p.m., which is open to the public.
