Lineburg Named Interim Head Football Coach

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND -- The University of Richmond announced Tuesday that offensive coordinator Wayne Lineburg has been named the interim head football coach, following the resignation of Latrell Scott. Lineburg will be introduced at a press conference Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Robins Center.
"This is a very unfortunate set of circumstances, and I feel deeply for Coach
Scott and his family," said Lineburg. "But I'm confident in the ability
of our staff and our team to overcome this challenge and I look forward to
leading the Spiders into the 2011 season."
The audio of Wednesday's press conference will be streamed live on the Spiders'
official athletic website, www.RichmondSpiders.com.
Lineburg (pronounced "lynn-a-burg"), 37, is entering his second year back at
Richmond after three seasons on the offensive staff at the University of

-- the second stint at his alma mater after serving there in 1998 and 1999. UVa
played in the 1998 Peach Bowl, the 1999 MicronPC.com Bowl and the 2008 Gator
Bowl with Lineburg on staff.

Bowl.
In his 19 seasons as either a player or coach, Lineburg has reached the
