Gameday Game Plan: Week 4 vs. New Hampshire

Top
3 Individual Matchups
Tremayne
Graham vs. Joey Orlando
Senior CB Tremayne Graham has not had
an interception this season, but the Spiders' active career-leader in INTs (5)
and tackles (145) knocked away three passes in last week's win over VMI - a figure
that is the second-highest in the FCS this season. He'll need to do more swatting Saturday as UNH junior WR
Joey Orlando is averaging a league-leading 107.5 yards/game receiving and has
16 catches in two games.
Tre
Gray vs. Kyle Flemings
UNH senior CB Kyle Flemings best get
ready to do some swatting as well.
Spider senior WR Tre Gray is right there with Joey Orlando among the nation's most-prolific receivers. Gray has 18 catches through
three games and is averaging 103.3 yards (3rd in CAA, 15th
in FCS) with two touchdowns this season. Flemings owns one of UNH's three picks this season.
Darius
McMillan vs. Kevin Decker
Senior LB Darius McMillan has been
virtually everywhere defensively for Richmond
and averaging 11 tackles per game.
UNH senior QB Kevin Decker leads his team in both passing (246.0
yards/game with four TDs) and rushing (36.5 yards/game with three TDs). Expect Decker to get a lot of face time
with McMillan Saturday afternoon.
Richmond Advantages
Defense Stepping Up
While QB Aaron Corp and the offense
continue to make headlines with big plays, Richmond's defense orchestrated by
coordinator Bob Trott has been outstanding. The Spiders rank second in the CAA (24th in FCS)
in total defense (297.67 yards/game allowed) and have yielded just 15.33 points
per game, which ranks second in the league and 10th nationally. Junior LB Darius McMillan has turned in
three-straight double-digit tackle performances, while the backfield of junior
S Cooper Taylor, senior S Colin Pehanick and senior CB Tremayne Graham have
helped account for five of the six turnovers.
Revenge Factor
It's no secret around Robins Stadium
what happened on Oct. 9, 2010 at Cowell Stadium in Durham, N.H. versus the
Wildcats The Spiders were 2-2 and
ranked 11th at that point, but things turned quickly when QB Aaron Corp went down with a season-ending knee injury on the game's third play. Richmond shuffled three different QBs
after the Corp injury finished 6-5 and missed the playoffs. Corp and the Spiders have had today
circled for nearly a year - when UNH comes to Robins Stadium to open CAA
Football play.
Stat Of The Week
Richmond is 13-3 in its last 16 games
versus teams from the former North Division of CAA Football (Maine, New
Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, along with former members Hofstra and
Northeastern). UNH has handed Richmond
two of those three setbacks - 27-17 in 2006 and 17-0 last season.
Quote Of The Week
"It
was not the way we envisioned going up there. We had to make some definite
scheme adjustments because we were also down John Laub. Certainly the scheme on offense and our
thought process really changed to be even more conservative and have our
defense carry us and be good on special teams. That was certainly a day I won't forget anytime soon and it wasn't
much fun for us on offense."
--
head coach Wayne Lineburg (reflecting on Corp's injury at UNH last season)
"It's been nice being more involved in the
passing game. None of us are concerned
about stats and we're happy to be 3-0, but it's all about 4-0. That's the next goal."
-- junior TE Kevin Finney
