UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. (Nov. 1, 2012)- The Richmond men's soccer team concludes the season with a match against No. 19 VCU on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Robins Stadium. The Spiders will recognize five seniors prior to the start of play.
LAST TIME OUT
Richmond dropped a pair of decisions at home last weekend.
The squad fell to Dayton 5-0 on Friday and lost to No. 12 Xavier 5-1 on
Sunday. The Spider's lead scorer Houston
Oldham earned the lone goal on the weekend.
Time between the posts was split between sophomore goalie Thomas Hand and senior goalkeepr Chris
Grover. Hand and Grover each earned seven saves over the course of play.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
The Rams are ranked
No. 19 in the NSCAA Coaches poll after an undefeated weekend in A-10 play after
snapping No. 12 Xavier 14 game winning streak 4-1 on Friday and edging Dayton
3-2 on Sunday.
The Rams have a high powered attack with junior forward Jason Johnson ranks 10th in the country with in the NCAA for points (29) and points per game(1.81). Midfielder Herrera Meraz earned a spot on the TopDrawerSoccer.com's National Team of the Week after collecting a goal and three assists this past weekend. Meraz is the second Ram to be recognized as part of the National Team this season.
The two squads faced each other on Sept.2, 2011 at VCU where the Rams squeaked by the Spiders 2-1.
