Team Notes
- Richmond improved to 6-3, 4-2 overall and won its fourth
in a row. The Spiders improved to 14-5 all-time against Rhode Island.
- The Robins Stadium sell-out was the fourth this season.
Since opening prior to the 2010 year, Richmond has sold out 13 games at Robins
Stadium and today was the ninth consecutive sell-out dating back to 2011.
- The Spiders improve to a 42-34-6 record for games played
on Homecoming weekend.
- Richmond shut-out an opponent for the first time since 2009
(vs. Hofstra, 9/19/09).
- The offensive line for Richmond did not allow a sack in
the game. The Spiders have only allowed one sack all year, which leads the
nation in number of sacks allowed.
- Since the 2004 season, Richmond is 53-5, 5-0 in 2012 when
leading at the half.
- Richmond improves to 42-6 when scoring 30 or more points
since the start of the 2005 season.
- Richmond outscored Rhode Island 23-0 in the third
quarter. In the 2012 season, Richmond is now outscoring opponents 107-27 in
the third quarter.
- Richmond recorded five interceptions in the game, moving
to 19 on the season.
- Today marked the sixth time Richmond
has scored 35 or more points in a season, first since 2007.
Player Notes
- Senior RB Kendall Gaskins rushed for two touchdowns in the
game, bringing his season total to 12.
- Gaskins now ranks third in school history in rushing
touchdowns (31) and all-purpose touchdowns (34).
- Redshirt senior CB Darryl Hamilton recorded his third
interception of the season in the second quarter.
- Junior DB Wayne Pettus had an interception in the third
quarter, his second interception of the season and the second of his career.
- Redshirt senior DB Doug Howell had an interception in the
third quarter, his team-leading fifth of the season, which also leads the CAA.
- Redshirt sophomore TE Hunter Westfall had a touchdown in
the third quarter, the first of his career.
- Sophomore DB Aaron Roane had an interception in the third
quarter, his first career interception.
- Roane also forced one fumble in the game, matching his
career best.
- Sophomore DL Justin Williamson had an interception in the
third quarter and returned it for a touchdown, both career-firsts.
- Williamson also recorded one tackle-for-loss, matching his
career-high.
- Redshirt sophomore TE Christian Conklin had his first
career reception in the fourth quarter for nine yards.
- Redshirt sophomore QB Michael Strauss set a new
career-long pass in the second quarter with a 41-yard completion.
- Junior WR Ben Edwards set new career highs for rushing
attempts (4), rushing yards (48), and long rush (30 yards). He also finished with five catches for 36
yards receiving and a touchdown.
- Freshman RB Jacobi Green tied his career-high rushing
attempts (9) and set a new career high for rushing yards in a game (39).
- Redshirt sophomore RB James McKinney set new career-highs
in rushing attempts (7), rushing yards (16), and long rush (11 yards).
- Redshirt junior RB George Boston set career-highs in
rushing attempts (2), long rush (6 yards), and rushing yards (9).
- Redshirt freshman FB Seth Fisher set career-highs for his
longest reception and receiving yards with a 17 yard catch.
- Fisher also made two tackles defensively, matching his
career-best.
- Redshirt junior WR Christian Parker had his first career
reception for 12 yards.
- Redshirt senior DB Cooper Taylor forced one fumble in the
game, matching a career-best.
- Sophomore DL Terrence Fullum and junior LB Walt Sparks
both set new career-highs for tackles in the game. Fullum recorded five, while Sparks had four.
- Freshman DB Ayo Ogunniyi recorded four tackles and two
pass-breakups in the game, both career-bests.
- Redshirt junior LB Cole Gonet recorded one
tackle-for-loss, a career-best.
- Redshirt junior DL Kerry Wynn had two pass-breakups
matching his career-high.
