Richmond?s Taylor, Gaskins Earn All-American Honors

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The honors continued to roll in for Cooper Taylor and Kendall Gaskins on Monday, as the pair of Richmond Spiders football players were named to the 2012 The Sports Network FCS All-America Team. Taylor earned first-team honors, while Gaskins was named to the second team.
Although he played just two seasons at Richmond, Taylor will graduate having made a tremendous impact on the program the past two years. A First-Team All-CAA honoree, Taylor totaled 78 tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and four interceptions in 2012.
Taylor was also named a Second-Team All-American by Beyond College Sports and was also recognized by The Touchdown Club of Richmond as the Division I National Defensive Back of the Year.
A four-year starter for the Spiders, Gaskins leaves Richmond as one of the finest running backs to ever come through the program. A First-Team All-CAA honoree for the second time in his career in 2012, Gaskins led the CAA with 16 touchdowns this season, rushing for 604 yards on 148 carries. Gaskins also showed his versatility, catching 21 balls for 193 yards and three scores.
The All-American accolade for Gaskins is the second of his career, as he was also recognized by The Sports Network in 2010 as a third-team honoree.
