Postgame Quotes: Richmond 46, No. 21/22 Delaware 43

Richmond Head Coach Danny Rocco on his team …
“We’ve showed a lot of resiliency this season. We had a lot of adversity early this year and we certainly got knocked off track. Let’s be honest, the team could have gone either way, but the team opted to fight. The kids have really responded here – won three in a row, two on the road.”
Rocco on his team’s offense …
“I had said to the team this morning in the meeting that offensively the only way we were going to be stopped was if we stopped ourselves. I was totally confident in our ability to control the ball and score points. I can’t even re-hash the big plays in the game today, there were really so many of them.”
Rocco on the momentum swings in the game …
“This game had some momentum swings unlike anything we have seen this year.”
Rocco on the ending to the game …
“This is the crazy dynamics of these games, we’ve lost some close games this year, but it was probably to our advantage that they scored the touchdown because we had 45 seconds and two timeouts. We were going to get a shot at the endzone. If they didn’t get in, they are able to run the clock all the way down with a chip-shot for a field goal.”
Rocco on the importance of the victory …
“This is a signature win. We needed a signature win this year. Going on the road against a top-25 team, a team sitting at 7-3, I think this win right here offers us back some credibility as we get ready for our last game of the season.”
Richmond QB Michael Strauss on his play …
“It’s surreal. I’m just letting it ride right now. We’re on a little roll. These guys up front are doing a great job. I thought they played an amazing game today. The receivers are bringing down everything. It makes my job easy. It’s been amazing these last two weeks with the ride we’ve been going on.”
Richmond DL Kerry Wynn on the team’s play …
“This is something that’s not surprising me. I knew we had the ability to play this way and better. We still have our best football to play, and we’ll play that next week.”
