Strauss Earns CAA Honor For Second-Straight Week

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – After leading the Richmond Spiders to a come-from-behind win at No. 21/22 Delaware on Saturday, QB Michael Strauss was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week for the second-straight time on Monday.
In the 46-43 win at Delaware, Strauss led the Spiders on a game-winning, touchdown drive with just 45 second left to upend the Blue Hens. In the victory, Strauss completed 35-of-46 passes for a school record 543 yards and school-record tying five touchdowns.
Over the last two weeks, Strauss has been playing some of the best football in the nation. The Key Biscayne, Fla. native has completed 63-of-84 (75.0) passes for 903 yards, 10 touchdowns and one interception with a quarterback efficiency rating of 202.20.
In 2013, Strauss is having the best statistical season any quarterback has had in the 130 years of the Richmond football program.
This season, Strauss has set single-season records for completions (311), attempts (472), yards (3,575) and touchdown passes (25). Strauss has also set single-game record this year for completions (41), attempts (64) yards (543) and touchdowns (5).
Strauss leads the CAA in every major passing category and ranks second in the nation in completions per game (28.3), fourth in passing yards, fifth in passing yards per game (325.0), seventh in total offense (320.5) and 10th in passing touchdowns.
The Richmond Spiders football team will conclude the 2013 season next Saturday when the team hosts in-state rival William & Mary in the “Oldest Rivalry in the South”. Kickoff at Robins Stadium is scheduled for 4 p.m.
